Hello. I'm new here. I'm trying to balance being weary and cautious
about scammers and trusting in the goodness of humanity unless proven
otherwise. I hate having the nagging feeling in the back of my mind
with every contact we get "is this a scammer?" No one has asked for
any money, and we wouldn't be sending it indiscriminately anyway. But
we have had folks just drop off the face of the earth when asked
certain questions.

Others tell me these are "emotional scammers". What on earth does that
mean? A person starved for attention who contacts us just to have us
show some interest in them, even if that interest is based on a lie?

If so, are there certain tell-tale signs I should be looking for?
(Other than asking for money or avoiding responses)
