We were contacted by a Tiffany from Delaware, Ohio. Her email is sweetiff2005@yahoo.com. She is 22 years old. She first contacted me and wasn't sure what she was having. She made us wait a few days and said that she was going to find out what she's having that week. Convenient I'm sure. She found out she was having a girl, which is what we want. It all seemed too perfect. About a week ago, I told her that our agency would work with her and gave her all the info. We haven't heard back from her since. I'm guessing we won't. Not sure what her end game is. Just wanted everyone to know.
I can confirm that this person appears to be attempting an adoption scam. She contacted one of the couple's that I work with as an adoption assessor and stated her intent to place for adoption. She had several contacts with them, stating her intent, and met with them a couple of times. She never asked directly for any money, but did ask the couple to help her at the grocery store (to carry bags) and then conveniently did not have enough money on her food stamps card--thankfully the couple did not pay for the grocery's as there was already some concern about the situation. She claims to be married by separated, and that her husband is supportive of the adoption plan--although he no showed at the time when he was to meet the couple. She claims to have had a bad experience with a pushy couple and a pushy agency--which is why she asks for some time before getting an agency involved. She did meet with our agency--but stalled on giving a release to contact her doctor. When we had concerns, we searched online for information (which is how this post was found), and also found several posts by this girl (using the same username) on surrogate mothers' support sites. She did tell the couple about the previous attempts be a surrogate, but she claimed it as a "long time ago". The support sites stated that she had an attempt at becoming pregnant around March of 2008, but it failed. In sharing info about herself with the couple, she claimed to have a child born in August of 2008--so dates do not match up. She was listed as "banned" from the surrogacy sites. It appears as if she might have also been scamming through surrogacy, as well.
